DRINK SMART TO PLAY HARD
Choose drinks with less added sugar. Teach kids how to recognize drinks that are high in added sugars. Encourage them to choose water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages. Kids should drink 2 to 3 cups of low-fat (1%) or fat-free milk a day, depending on age.

CHOOSE MORE FRUITS & VEGGIES

Offer kids fruits and vegetables during meals and snacks. Try new fruits and veggies together as a family.

LIMIT SCREEN TIME

Help kids discover fun ways to stay busy and active this summer. Limit TV and video game time to no more than 1-2 hours a day.

GET ACTIVE
Kids need at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. Help your family get moving with games, dancing, and more

Join Our PTA

PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. Today's PTA is comprised of 5 million parents, teachers, grandparents, caregivers, foster parents and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health, and safety of all children. We speak with one voice for every child.

Today, the issues affecting our children extend beyond their individual schools. The PTA's nationwide network provides parents with the forum and tools to collectively influence the decisions that affect children not only at their schools, but also throughout their districts, within their states, and across the nation. This mission is unique to the PTA. Learn more here.

Vision Statement

It is the vision of John Tyler Elementary School to fulfill our mandate as a public school, helping students attain the highest possible standards as established by our school board and our state.

In recognizing the need for a strong academic base, teachers (and staff) will stress skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and technology. The arts and physical education will be recognized for their importance in the development of the whole individual.

We Believe

  • We believe our school should provide a quality education for all students.
  • We believe in the important contribution parents, volunteers, and community partners can make, and we actively seek their participation in providing a quality program.
  • We believe our school should be a place where each student leaves with a sense of accomplishment and a desire to return the next day.
